UMC Trauma and Burn Services and UMC EMS offers online, accredited continuing education to EMTs, AEMTs, and paramedics that meet Texas DHSH and NREMT requirements for recertification.  We’ll soon have CNE for nurses and physician CME available through our partnership with Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.

In-house education: UMC Trauma and Burn Services has been teaching at hospitals within the west Texas and eastern New Mexico region for years.  While this program is limited at this time due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we’ll be continuing this outreach education again soon.  

 

 

 

Courses currently offered through our online continuing education program:

 

  • Texas Jurisprudence Exam – Meets the Texas DSHS requirements for this exam and offers 1 hour of CE credit.  PDF-based education.
  • Prehospital and Emergency Center Care of the Burn Patient (2 hours).  Video-based education.
  • Recognition of Child Abuse (1 hour).  Video-based education.
  • Acute Head Injury: An EPIC Response (2 hours).  Video-based education.
